- Linda Coleman meets personally with the client, usually at their current or new residence. In order to determine which design firms will be most desirable, clients present magazine clippings highlighting their range of preferences. This enables a visual understanding of individual likes, dislikes, priorities and aesthetics. Linda also leads a detailed discussion to ensure clients have a thorough understanding of the process, what their expectations should be regarding budget, presentation techniques, timing and installation. The meeting typically lasts two hours.

- Portfolio presents a select group of designers individual portfolios. These are chosen to suit the client's demonstrated style preferences, priorities and personal vision. Discussion focuses on how various design firms work, budget parameters and the differences between Decorators versus Interior Designers, and Architects versus Design/Build firms. This ensures a complete understanding of the process, the fee structures and realistic expectations.

- Together, Portfolio and the client narrow the choices and interviews are arranged with the interior design finalists. Portfolio receives feedback from both the client and the design firms, and will help sort priorities and negotiate the best Contract possible.
- The contractual process is finalized and the client begins to work with their favorite Design Firm.
- The clients successfully complete their project and are living in their "dream home."
